Exmoor Steam Railway is located in Bratton Fleming, on the western slopes of the Exmoor National Park in north Devon. It sits at almost 1000 feet above sea level and is the highest narrow gauge steam railway in the country.

The railway opened in 1990 as a tourist attraction and originally ran from the main station at Exmoor Central following a descent down a large embankment and back up through a spiral tunnel. The station of Cape of Good Hope opened in 1996 and changed the layout of the line.
